Grants Support Veterans and their Communities

MORE than $640,000 will be provided to community groups supporting veterans through 39 grants under the latest round of the Veteran and Community Grants program announced by Minister for Veterans’ Affairs Michael McCormack today.

“The Coalition Government is investing in local organisations who are working to meet the needs of veterans in their community,” Mr McCormack said.

“These grants are funding a diverse range of local projects and equipment, including social outings for veterans and the furnishing of a drop in centre.

“As a nation we must never forget the service and sacrifice of the men and women who serve in the defence of our nation.”

Mr McCormack said the benefits of this Veteran and Community Grants funding will also flow on to the local community, which has contributed to making this invaluable project a reality.

“I congratulate all recipients, this funding has helped support practical and tangible projects that will enrich the lives of many people who have served this country,” Mr McCormack said.

“The dedication and hard work of these organisations ensure veterans retain their independence, and that they and their families continue to be provided services, support and opportunities within their local communities.

“I encourage ex-service and community organisations, veteran representative groups, private organisations and projects that promote improved independence and quality of life for veterans are eligible for funding through the Veteran and Community Grants program.”

From February 2018, Veteran and Community Grants will be available through the Australian Government’s Community Grants Hub.
