VVCS is changing to Open Arms
As of October 2018, the Veterans and Veterans Families Counselling Service (VVCS) is rebranding and operating as Open Arms, with the tagline veterans and families counselling.
This new brand is an opportunity to better represent the increased eligibility and access to our services, providing a fresh look that is more meaningful and easily recognisable.
Our name is changing but our phone number and professional service are not. We continue to provide free and confidential support to current and former ADF members and their families 24/7 on 1800 011 046.
Open Arms offers:
- counselling for individuals, couples, and families
- case management for clients with more complex needs
- group programs to treat issues like anxiety, anger, pain and trauma
- after-hours telephone counselling
- information, education, and self-help resources
- suicide prevention training
- crisis support
- referrals to other services or specialist treatment programs, as needed.
Who is Eligible?
If you have served or are currently serving in the Australian Defence Force, you and your family members can use Open Arms.
How much does it cost?
All of the services available through Open Arms are completely free for eligible clients.
Where is Open Arms located?
We currently operate a primary site within the Adelaide CBD, with additional services provided at Mawson Lakes for face to face services. In order to better support former and currently serving ADF personnel and their families living in regional South Australia, Open Arms has recently expanded our footprint, including offering some face to face services in Port Augusta, Whyalla and Pt Pirie.
In instances where face to face is not available, alternatives such as phone or video counselling can be explored.
For more information on our services, or to book an appointment please call 1800 011 046.
