The Kingdom of Belgium in collaboration with the Mt Lofty Districts Historical Society and the Adelaide Hills Council presents an exhibition titled The Great War in Great Outlines. The travelling exhibition acknowledges the contribution of communities across the world which supported Belgium in its hour of need.
It recognises the part Australian soldiers played in defending Belgium against the might of the invading Germany. It also acknowledges the role played by men, women and children on the Australian home front in supporting the war effort and in rallying to help the people of Belgium who were so damaged by the horrors of a war being fought on their land.
The exhibition will also include additional displays and material from the collections of local history groups: the Mt Lofty Districts and Mylor, Scott Creek, Bradbury, Longwood and East Torrens.
A series of special publications will be available for sale. The Poppy Series will feature articles about soldiers and nurses who served in the War, and about local communities at home which supported the war effort in a far off land.
